Wake Up Pune
Launched in November 2006, Wake Up Pune is a coalition of NGOs and representatives from civil society working to spread awareness about HIV and AIDS in the city of Pune, India. MUKTAA and Wake Up Pune are working together in several ways to further to cause of HIV awareness in Pune.
DISHA (Deep Griha's Integrated Service for HIV/AIDS) 2007
DISHA is a Prevention, Treatment, Care and Support programme and we work with the sexually aware, the sexually active, and those who live with HIV and AIDS and their families. We believe that HIV Awareness initiatives and HIV Helplines have a symbiotic relationship. During awareness programs Muktaa’s number is publicized, so that clients get an anonymous channel for followup enquiry. In turn, we hope that counsel from the helpline will increase the chance of the client taking up a positive change in behaviour and attitude, thereby increasing the efficacy of community based initiatives.
Maitri Clinic
Maitri Clinic is run by two of the founders of MUKTAA HIV Helpline – Dr Madhu Oswal and Dr Rupa Agarwal. The clinic provides medical care for HIV patients and closely complements the work at MUKTAA. For several years, entirely on their own, Madhu and Rupa (have been) conducting training programmes for doctors on HIV. The objective was to sensitise doctors about HIV and to get them to accept HIV patients in their general practise. They have managed to reach about 700 doctors. Madhu and Rupa have taken a lead in not only treating but also supporting several HIV positive patients in other ways as part of their general practise. The support provided, on a case to case basis includes:

- Free ART (till recently not all cases were receiving help under NACO’s scheme)
- Special support for pediatric HIV cases - temporary support till they start getting ART under government schemes
- c. Financial support for other aspects of their patients’ health and family situation – free treatment of opportunistic infections, children’s education etc.
